Because There's No Better Time

So, my main concern when starting this blog was toilet seats.  Then I figured I'd find something else to throw in here.  So follow my train of thought, if you will...

On a Sarcasm Society post, someone thought they were clever enough to come up with the idea of a toilet seat that you could plug into the wall so that it can be heated.  This individual figured they would become rich over this idea.  But guess what?  It already exists.  How do I know this?  About two years ago, I was toilet seat shopping (no lie) and I came across one.  See, not long after we had moved into our house, the toilet in the 1/2 bath downstairs needed to be replaced.  So...I went to R.F. Fager's (if you're familiar with the place) to find one.  Yes, I bought a designer toilet.  Why?  Well, it seemed like the right thing to do at the time.  I would say my tastes are a bit refined in some areas and I do tend to be rather particular about things when it comes to something I'm going to be spending my money on.  Plus, I had a bathroom "vision", if you will.  Anyway... So, I couldn't just go anywhere to find the kind of toilet seat I needed and had to go back to that place.  The cool thing about places like Fager's is that they don't make you do any work.  You're not on the showroom floor for more than 2 seconds before they greet you like you've just walked into a 5 star establishment.  LOVE those people.  And it's nice when you have the kids with you because you don't have to put them through the torture of browsing through absolutely boring merchandise until they decide to wreak havoc on the world...or at least the store.  So, I just told the guy what kind of toilet we had and he did the work for me by simply taking me to where my choices were.  I noticed one that had this odd looking tube connected (nothing ostentatious, but you don't normally see tubes near toilet seats).  The guy noticed my hesitance around that area and explained that it was a heated toilet seat.  Huh... I was intrigued.  It was around $70-80 (can't remember exactly).  That's a lot for a toilet seat, sure.  But I ended up spending $50 on a regular one, so I can't really talk.  It had to match; that's all I can say.  The point is that heated toilet seats do currently exist and have for at least a few years, if not longer.  You missed the boat on this one, buddy.  Someone beat you to it.

A Journal of Purpose:

I haven't unpacked anything in the last 2 days and that completely sucks.  But I did reorganize a couple of my books that didn't need reorganized.  In doing so, I came across the journal that I started keeping since I left N.  I read the first couple of pages and semi-relived some of those moments.  I had some very dark days in addition to some very bright ones at the beginning.  That was about the time when I had decided that the end result for me in life was to simply be happy.  Often times, that means that you have to go with the flow.  You have to decide what is important enough to worry about and what requires a lot less brain power, like sleep mode or something.  I had some colorful descriptions for what I was feeling, that's for sure.  You can always wax poetic when you're feeling down.  But the most beautiful result would have to be how I'm feeling now.  Those days seem so very far away, a natural part of the grieving process even though I was the one who left.  I have the urge, though not the time at the moment, to catch up in at least a brief "this is what has taken place in the last couple of months" type of way with that journal.  It seems to me that I owe it, at least to myself, to chronicle all this time as it shows some amazing progress and some places that I don't necessarily ever want to go again.  History is like that and we need to learn from it.  And if I've learned anything from the last year, it's that I am fine to follow my heart as long as I keep myself grounded.  Reality sometimes alludes the best of us, but I'd like to keep it close by me if only to keep myself from disappointment.  Right now, I love my life.  I love who I'm surrounded by, and I love just being me.  It's kind of nice.  Doesn't mean that every day is perfect, or that I don't sometimes cry, or that I don't feel stress.  It just means that I have an outlook on my life that allows me to believe that difficult days are a part of this existence and that everyone has them.  It's how we recover from them that counts.

The Annihilation Proclamation

Being at work always puts me in a mood to rant and rave about political nonsense (wonder why) and to basically find creative ways to free up our population.  Add to that the idea of being completely irritated by unintelligent nutjobs that shouldn't be wasting time in public just to ruin my day, and I feel that a blog is necessary.  I know these things tend to be controversial with some, but I'm only looking out for myself, my children, those I care about, and really the rest of America.  It's important.  It's like I'm a human environmentalist.  By that I mean, I'm not so much concerned about what effects we have on our planet (I am, but no more than the average being who's too busy to freak out over my recycling abilities), but I'm more concerned about what effects humans have on my own "environment"...yours as well; and it's more of a mental thing.  I go by the saying, "Never let stupid people rent space in your head."  It's a good saying.  I have to remind myself of it sometimes, but it's one to live by.  However, when you're surrounded by stupidity and ignorance, you sometimes forget to hold up the NO VACANCY sign.  And then they all crowd in like Mexico exploded.  So, you have your angel and devil residing on the shoulders of your brain; the angel saying, "These individuals are misunderstood.  Give them a chance.  They need to be cultivated.  They were never loved as a child."  Then the devil says, "Look to your arsenal and get these degenerates out of here!"  Guess which one I'd prefer to side with?

So, I'd like to simply suggest that we develop a program to help remedy this situation.  It's not like we need to waste money on research.  We already have most of the resources at our fingertips, my personal favorite simply being sterilization.  I can certainly tolerate an individual as long as I know they don't have to ruin generations to come.  I'd do that for my children and the children of my friends.  And, imagine how much money we'd save in other programs by putting something like this in place.  Add the concept of not letting non tax-paying citizens and non-citizens remain in our country, and you've got some real efficiency in place.

What it comes down to is the fact that America was developed using a system.  It started with a simple set of rules (our Constitution) that guaranteed the rights and safety of the individual as well as the whole.  And then it grew with a financial plan (taxation) to make sure the citizens receiving those rights and protection were well provided for as a whole when in time of need.  Can you imagine going back to that?  Because we're no where near that now.  The programs that currently reside in our system today (the big ones anyway, as there are small ones that don't even make sense) began as a means to aid those who paid into the system and needed help to remain a valuable part of society.  Misappropriation of funds, poor leadership within the programs and all the way up, being taken advantage of...all of these things bring these programs to a point that they are no longer valuable for the whole.  For the individual, maybe.  But for the whole, they have become a drainage system.  I'm not saying they need to go away; I'm just saying I'd like to run them myself for awhile.

And then you have simply the people that mentally drain the value from others with their lack of intelligence, blatant disregard for the rules/guidelines of society, or even just a common sense deficiency.  These would include our criminals, degenerate neighbors, black sheep relatives, and the millions of stupid people at the grocery store in the middle of the day who only have 2 speeds: slow and stop.  What is the answer for these people?  Well, I firmly believe that if you never tell someone they're doing something wrong, they'll never stop doing it.  That's another fair reason to introduce re-education camps.  We'll give them the tools they need to survive among their fellow man; we'll teach them how to become productive members of society.  And if that doesn't work?  Oh, well.  Bye-bye.  Game over.  Thanks for playing.  Now, can you actually stop being stupid...like cold turkey?  It's worth a try to find out.  I'm sure I could conjure up some experimentation on that issue.  If they can't...imagine the open space to briskly walk through the grocery store to pick up the one or two things that you needed and sacrificed your lunch for.  It's a win-win.

In conclusion, I would like to say that it is our responsibility as Americans to not be so concerned about the rights of the individual and place that concern over the rights of the whole.  I'm not about to make sacrifices in my life because some douchebag has hurt feelings somewhere.  I would like to live my life uninhibited by those less intelligent than me, by those who only think of themselves, and by those who think rules don't apply to them.

What Day Are We On???

I'll jump right into it and just say that this moving experience has been wonderful because of the awesome friends that I have but so very sucky because it consisted of...moving.  The next time I move, please convince me to get movers.  I'm done.  At least until I forget what this was like.

Some things I've learned...

1. Stretch before spending an entire day of lifting and carrying heavy boxes up and down stairs.  For someone who finds stretching to be a vital part of every day, I sure dropped the ball here.  My calf muscles feel like they're going to pop right off of my legs right now.  I tried stretching a little yesterday, but it's like they were yelling at me, "It's too late!  It's too late!"

2. Just because you're moving and stressed doesn't mean you need to drink a lot.  This one I only really noticed last night.  I'm not necessarily an emotional drinker.  However, apparently being overly tired and hearing unpleasant things brings about a good number of tears.  I can totally do without that for awhile.  I'll stick with my happy, drowsy drinking.

3. Do not set beer and wine on your living room floor.  Enough said...

4. When you say you're going to do something, do it.  I have a tendency to try to please everyone, when what I should probably do is simply please who I want to please.

5. When D, Big D and I get together, our usually witty banter turns into a slew of uncensored sexual innuendos.  What, are we 12?  Maybe our day called for it; I don't know.

6. Though I've said it a million times, Kristen's laugh is the most contagious laugh EVER!  I don't think I've ever been able to resist.  But it's not the best thing to have happen when you have a large, heavy box in your arms.

7. Liz is the most efficient individual I have ever met.  I'd probably still be attempting to move boxes today if it weren't for her pushing me to get it all done the other day.  And it even happened with us trading the baby back and forth.  That's some skill.

8. Wearing rings, even just one, is not advisable during moving.  I almost had mine ripped off my finger, taking my finger with it.  Today?  Leaving it at home.

9. I cook awesome steak.

10. I want this to be over.

A Life Less Organized

It's amazing how things can turn themselves around in the course of a week or even a weekend; better yet in a day.  But that's all I've to say on that.  I have a great need for humor at this point in my day and I prefer to soak up as much as I can get.

I'm moving...again...this week.  I get the keys on Thursday, so I'll have a half day that day and I'm taking off on Friday.  The goal is to have everything moved into the new place by Saturday so that I can have Sunday to clean.  We'll see how that goes.  Then, during my attempt at recovering from anticipated exhaustion, I'll get the kiddos on Monday to start our week.  And I will say that it will be highly unlikely to see me out and about during that week and the next weekend with the kids as I would like to spend some serious quality time with them...stress free, and because I'm sure this move will nicely drain my finances for just a bit.  Though I'm attempting to make sure there is as little damage in that aspect as possible.  I'm very excited to be in the new place, but I can't so much feel that right now.  Until everything is moved in, I will be tense and anxious.  Par for the course, really.  I need to give a ton of thanks to all of my friends that have volunteered to help with my move, whether they're able to because of the schedule or not.  I am forever grateful to have you guys in my life.  P.S. Daeron is getting paid for his heavy lifting with steak and beer, so if you'd like to get in on that...

Couple of funny things to relate.  First of all, we know there is never a dull moment at my place.  Well, maybe when I'm alone.  No...not even then.  But when there's other people to witness the shenanigans that go on or to be a part of them, it's so much more fun.  So, Sunday night I picked up D because  a) she was going stir crazy in her apartment since she'd recently hit a deer and didn't yet have her car back and  b) because company is always nice during packing.  While there's a good number of hilarious stuff that we said and did, sometimes bringing us back to the mentality of teenagers, there's only really one that I wish to share.  In fact, if I didn't share it, I would feel that I was depriving my friends severely.  Here it is...

...D is in my kitchen, getting a cup of coffee.  I'm sitting on my living room floor...probably texting.  I start to hear what sounded like coughing, so I asked, "D, is that you?"  And then it got worse.  So I head towards the hallway, and so does D coming from the other direction.  We both get to the scene simultaneously, just in time to hear and see my cat retching like crazy and puking up the cat treats I had given him earlier.  The best part of this is that D immediately throws her hand to her mouth and almost pukes in the hallway right next to the cat.  So, she takes off to the bathroom and I'm left to clean up the mess.  Normally, I'm a "sympathetic barfer", but the cat didn't even chew the treats, so all I was cleaning up were whole pieces of fish shaped treats with saliva.  I survived.  But as I was cleaning, I couldn't help but sincerely laugh out loud because while I'm hearing the cat still retching next to me, I'm hearing D retching in the bathroom.  And these are the times, people.  These are the times.  (Note: this would be the same night that I smacked my face off the corner of my headboard attempting to grab my phone charger, yelling out the words "F*** ME!" and then attempting to hold back tears.)

Second on my list of funny things to recently occur in my apartment, came about just last night.  Amazingly, only one cup of coffee consumed prior to visiting me had K completely hyper and messed up (in my opinion) for the rest of the night.  Absolutely amazing.  Anyway, so she comes over and we have an incredibly yummy dinner, I bake brownies, and virtually avoid any attempt at packing.  Though I only really had one box left, which K went to the kids room with.  However, I did plan on wrapping the good china from the hutch...just didn't get to it.  Anyway, as we sat chatting for a bit, I must have been distracted enough to space out for a minute or 5.  I don't know.  But I recovered to K asking me if I heard anything she had just said.  I admitted that I hadn't heard a word of it, which is funny enough in and of itself.  But apparently, she had been attempting to have a serious (well, I don't know how serious.  maybe i mean, sincere.) conversation with me about pornos and enemas.  I clearly remember how we would have gotten to such a conversation, as I believe I started it with my unswerving devotion to be quite open about such topics.  But...pornos and enemas?  And why did my brain pick that moment to walk away?  Would those key words not have pulled me back in?  Once completely recovered, the thought of K having a conversation with herself about pornos and enemas (I can't stop writing that) was enough to make us laugh ourselves practically into a fit.  Again...these are the times.  (also to be noted: K did my dishes)

So, that's about it for the pre-moving blogging.  I will hopefully get back to it with my highly charged political rants that I am dying to throw out again.  Must be the time of year.  Or maybe it's because of liberal suckiness; I don't know.

Till then, peace out... (see what I just did there?)
